FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes Threefold Grace skincare different?
A: Our products are handcrafted in small batches with 100% grass-fed, grass-finished suet tallow, nutrient-rich oils, and pure essential oils, most of which are certified organic. We create everything with intentional care, rooted in faith, clean ingredients, and transparency.

Q: What is tallow, and why do you use it in skincare?
A: Tallow is rendered fat, and we specifically use suet, which is the clean, dense fat that surrounds the kidneys of 100% grass-fed and grass-finished cattle and lamb. It closely mimics the structure of human skin oils and is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K. It is non-comedogenic, deeply nourishing, and ideal for dry, sensitive, or easily stressed skin.

Q: Are your products safe for babies and children?
A: Yes. Our Baby Grace line is specially formulated with gentle, natural ingredients. We always recommend doing a patch test first and supervising use. If your child has sensitivities, consult your pediatrician.

Q: Do your tallow products smell like beef?
A: No. We render our tallow from clean suet and purify it thoroughly, resulting in a neutral, clean scent that blends beautifully with essential oils.

Q: Do you use preservatives or synthetic ingredients?
A: We avoid parabens, phthalates, and synthetic preservatives. The majority of our products are scented only with essential oils, CO₂ extracts, absolutes, and infusions. In some cases, such as our Sweet and Safe Collection, we use a phthalate-free fragrance oil that meets clean beauty standards and is free from harmful additives. We only choose ingredients that are safe, effective, and intentionally selected to align with our values.

Q: What is a patch test, and how do I do one?
A: A patch test is a simple way to check if your skin may react to a new product. Apply a small amount to a discreet area of skin, such as the inside of your wrist or behind your ear. Wait 24 hours and watch for redness, itching, burning, or rash. If no reaction occurs, the product is generally suitable for use. If irritation appears, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider if needed. Always patch test when trying new products, especially baby or face items.

Q: Can I use your products while pregnant or breastfeeding?
A: Our Unscented Tallow Body Butter contains no essential oils and is a simple option for those who prefer to avoid them. Products containing essential oils can affect everyone differently. Please consult your healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Q: Do your products have SPF?
A: No. Some products include uncoated non-nano zinc oxide, which can help create a physical barrier, but they are not FDA-approved or tested as SPF products. No SPF value is assigned. For sun protection, we recommend using an SPF-rated sunscreen alongside any of our products.

Q: How should I store my products?
A: Store products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is the best option to extend shelf life, but it is not required. Because we do not use synthetic stabilizers, very hot environments may cause some products to soften or melt.

Q: How long is the shelf life of the products?
A: Most products are best used within 12 months of opening. Our tallow-based formulas are naturally stable and may last longer when stored properly, but we recommend using them within this time frame for optimal freshness. Avoid introducing water into the jar. If scent, texture, or color changes, discontinue use.

Q: Why do you use a natural preservative in your facial cleanser?
A: Any product containing both water and oil requires a preservative to remain safe. Water-based formulas can support the growth of bacteria, mold, and yeast. A natural, broad-spectrum preservative keeps the cleanser safe, stable, and fresh without parabens or harsh synthetic chemicals.

Q: Where on my body can I use body exfoliating scrubs and body butters?
A: These products are intended for body use only, as the essential oil dilution is higher than what is ideal for facial skin. For face care, we recommend our Radiant Revival Facial Collection.

Q: Are there adverse reactions to using tallow?
A: Adverse reactions are rare, but everyone’s skin is different. We always recommend performing a patch test before full use.

Q: Should I use tallow if I have oily skin?
A: Yes. Tallow closely matches the fatty acid profile of your skin’s natural oils and is compatible with most skin types, including oily skin. Many people find it supports a more balanced feel without clogging pores.

Q: Is my product ruined if it softens or melts?
A: No. If your product softens or melts, place it in the refrigerator to firm back up. Whipped products may change in texture, but the product remains safe to use unless exposed to extreme heat for an extended period.

Q: Why does the container size differ from the net weight?
A: Container size refers to volume, while net weight refers to the actual weight of the product inside. Ingredients have different densities, so a product may fill a container but weigh more or less than the container size. All products are labeled with accurate Net Wt. to comply with cosmetic labeling laws.

Q: Do you release seasonal or limited-edition products?
A: Yes. Our Seasonal Sanctuary line features small-batch, limited creations that rotate throughout the year. Follow us on social media for upcoming releases.

Q: How do you ship products safely in hot weather?
A: During warmer months, we insulate packages, include ice packs, and ship via Priority Mail to help your order arrive quickly and safely. While melting may still occur, these steps reduce the risk. If your product softens, refrigerate it to re-solidify. It remains safe and effective.

Our products are also available at several local retail locations. Visit our Locations page and follow us on social media for upcoming events and in-person shopping opportunities.

Q: What other scents and products do you plan to create?
